Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes: one of the biggest art collections in Argentina
The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts) is one of the most important art institutions in the country with more than 12.000 pieces that go from precolombian, argentine, and international art (from the III century B.C to current artists)
Among its catalog not only you will find paintings, but also drawings, sculptures, textiles, objects and prints.
The museum opened as such in 1886 by a decreet of the then president of the Nation Jose E.Uriburu, in a time where the most important museums and cultural entities were created in our country.
Located now on Libertador Ave. in Recoleta, this museum stands in a privilaged area around a park near the Cemetery and other museums like the Centro Cultural Recoleta and MALBA, This location was inagurated in 1932 when the museum opened a bigger and modern building for its ever growing collection.
The vast collection of the Museum can be called "ecclectic" since as listed before you will find an endless catalog of artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Goya, Manet, Gaughin among so many others, from Rennasance to Pop Art.
We highly suggest you take your time with this museum, not only because of its size, but also because we believe walking along its silents corridors and enjoying each piece is something worth dedicating some quality time. You'll see!
