Fundacion Proa: a contemporary art museum in La Boca

Founded in 1996 and located only a few feet away from the famous Caminito en La Boca, the Fundacion Proa is a museum dedicated to contemporary art where intallations,paintings, photography, theater, murals, performances and dance come alive.

The building is an old italian house built in the XIX century and in the mid 1990's the Fundacion Proa helped to bring this house back to life, adding in 2008 a modern new wing to its museum, where classic and modern clash in perfect harmony.

The location of the museum also helped to put "on the map" a part of the city that was somehow forgotten besides the quaint area of Caminito, adding certain new value to the area and making the museum an "it place" not only for local but also for international artists.

Their amazing library offers a great catalog, with over 9000 items between books and magazines.

The museum also has a lovely restaurant-cafe where you can enjoy a meal with a grand view of La Boca.
